For our April program we're going to learn about lichens. Natalie Howe, a lichenologist from the D.C. area, and a superb educator, is going to tell us all about these fascinating fungi. Perhaps some of you already know our speaker from other lichen forays, such as the 'Wicked-Awesome Halloween Lichen Foray' last fall, and if so, you already know this is going to be one fun evening!
We'll try to couple the lecture with a speaker led foray the following weekend to practice our newly acquired lichen fieldcraft.
And, just in time for morel season, Albert Casciero is going to provide some best practices to follow when cooking these popular & scrumptious ascomycetes. Albert frequently contributes to Fungi magazine with a column titled 'The Wild Epicure'.
